A history of service and dedication

Granville Rescue Squad, Inc. was founded in 1967 after a group of dedicated and visionary individuals recognized a need for emergency medical treatment and transportation in the greater Granville area. The agency quickly blossomed to several ambulances, skilled personnel, and an essential community service. Our founding members worked tirelessly in both providing this service and fundraising to make this possible. Our agency has always been headquartered on Potter Avenue in the Village of Granville, New York, starting out in a two bay garage on property further to the east of our current headquarters and eventually flourishing into a state of the art response facility. At it's inception, Granville Rescue had the luxury of transporting to local hospitals within the district. As time went on and closures occurred, transportation to regional facilities in Rutland, VT and Glens Falls, NY (and further) became a necessity. This led to fleet expansion and with fleet expansion came facility expansion. Starting with a single pre-owned Cadillac Ambulance, the agency quickly purchased a second ambulance to satisfy the needs. A third ambulance would follow and would sustain the agency until the turn of the century, when a 4th ambulance was necessary. 10 years later that number grew to 5. Reactionary procurement has played a major role in how our agency has acquired our equipment, basing sound capital purchases on the needs of our mission.
